iTSA History 

How It Started 

• The Indian Thermal Spray Association was established in 2022 to meet the need for a professional body of thermal spray experts in India. All major countries have national level thermal spray societies or associations. Since thermal spraying work is active in India, but no professional body was formed to represent this thermal spray community.

• In 2022, Dr. Satish Tailor took this initiative and iTSA Association for Thermal Spray Technology and Research [ITSA-ATSTR], a non-profit organization registered in India.

• Later, various thermal spray experts holding senior positions in India were approached for their support, along with many people in high positions in government and industries to formation of an association of thermal spray experts in India.

• Prof. Harpreet Singh - IIT Ropar, Dr. Satish Tailor - MECPL, Prof. S Bakshi - IIT Madras, Late Dr. RM Mohanty - CSIR HQ, Prof. Anup Kumar Keshri - IIT Patna, Dr. Sisir Mantry - IMMT Bhubaneswar, Prof. Kamaraj M- IIT Madras, Prof. Jyotsna Dutta Majumdar - IIT Kharagpur, Prof. Shashi Bhushan Arya- NIT K Surathkal, are agreed to form the association as “The Indian Thermal Spray Association” as founding members of the iTSA (a standing committee of the ITSA-ATSTR)

The main mission of the iTSA is to promote

-The advancements of research & developments and industrial applications of thermal spray technology in India as well as in the world through establishing an information exchange platform (trainings, workshops, meetings, and conferences) and the involvement of experienced professionals and young researchers and students in thermal spray R&D.
